Megaproyecto de Corío requiere rigurosa evaluación técnica para su viabilidad
- La Comisión de Asuntos Marítimos, Portuarios y Aduaneros de la CCL afirma que el proyecto debe garantizar suficiente carga para los próximos 20 o 30 años, así como asegurar tarifas competitivas frente a terminales ya posicionados como Callao, Chancay y Paracas.
El presidente de la Comisión de Asuntos Marítimos, Portuarios y Aduaneros de la Cámara de Comercio de Lima (CCL), Alberto Ego-Aguirre, señaló que el Megaproyecto de las Américas Corío, en Arequipa, representa una importante oportunidad de inversión para el país. Sin embargo, su pleno desarrollo y viabilidad deben sustentarse con criterios técnicos, sostenibles y competitivos.
Estas declaraciones las dio en el marco del XXIII edición del Foro Internacional de Puertos, evento enfocado hacia la conectividad logística y la modernización portuaria, que se llevará acabo el 20 de mayo en las instalaciones de la CCL, en Jesús María.
El especialista señaló que el megaproyecto de Corío podría atraer inversiones internacionales y consolidarse como un eje estratégico en el sur, cuyo impacto será impulsar el comercio exterior peruano, considerando que ya existen 350 empresas nacionales y extranjeras interesadas en el proyecto.
GARANTIZAR CARGA Y COMPETITIVIDAD
No obstante, advirtió que el proyecto requiere una evaluación técnica rigurosa debido a la magnitud de la inversión estimada, cercana a los US$ 7000 millones. En ese sentido, sostuvo que uno de los principales desafíos es garantizar suficiente carga para los próximos 20 o 30 años, así como asegurar tarifas competitivas frente a terminales ya posicionados como Callao, Chancay y Paracas.
Asimismo, indicó que es importante evaluar si las principales navieras internacionales estarían dispuestas a incorporar una nueva escala en sus rutas comerciales y cuál sería el impacto en los costos logísticos y de transporte. Al respecto, advirtió que un incremento en los costos operativos podría trasladarse al comercio exterior y afectar la competitividad del país.
“La posición del sector empresarial no es oponerse al proyecto, sino que el puerto de Corío se desarrolle de manera transparente, técnica, sostenible y competitiva. Los puertos no se construyen por decretos de ley”, remarcó.
Cabe mencionar que la XXIII edición el Foro Internacional de Puertos abordará además temas vinculados a la modernización del sistema portuario peruano, reducción de costos logísticos, digitalización de operaciones y mejoras en conectividad para fortalecer la competitividad de las exportaciones peruanas.
