IA en LatAm: 2026 será el año del retorno de la inversión en las empresas

Según GlobalLogic, la inteligencia artificial empezará generar retornos de inversión concretos en las empresas de la región, principalmente en la optimización de procesos, mientras que en mercados como Colombia la demanda de talento en Big Data e IA seguirá siendo clave para acelerar esta transformación.

Latinoamérica atraviesa una etapa de fuerte impulso en la adopción de inteligencia artificial (IA), con más de la mitad de las empresas de la región investigando o implementando soluciones de IA tradicional y generativa, según informes. Sin embargo, el próximo gran salto lo representan los llamados agentes de inteligencia artificial, sistemas capaces de conectarse a los ecosistemas empresariales, tomar decisiones y automatizar procesos completos.

Así lo afirmó Gabriel Arango, jefe de Tecnología para LatAm de GlobalLogic. “La región siempre ha sido un hub de innovación y hoy vemos un alto interés en seguir adoptando IA y pasar a la fase de integración de los agentes de IA. En este escenario las principales barreras no son exclusivamente tecnológicas, sino estructurales: la falta de gobernanza de datos, la baja calidad de la información histórica, sistemas legados y procesos de negocio poco digitalizados”, destacó.

Casos en la región

Para el ejecutivo de GlobalLogic, el avance de la IA en las empresas de la región ya muestra resultados concretos. “Durante 2025 desarrollamos muchos proyectos que hoy están siendo productivos y creo que 2026 será el año en el que empecemos a ver retornos de inversión concretos, sobre todo en lo que es optimización de procesos. Por ejemplo, entre las organizaciones con las que trabajamos, una empresa de telecomunicaciones redujo en un 98% los errores de facturación mensuales, pasando de cerca de 20.000 notas de crédito al mes a solo unos cientos”, señaló.

Asimismo, agregó Arango, “en el sector financiero, un banco en México automatizó el 90% de la aprobación de créditos gracias a sistemas de IA, mientras que una empresa de ciberseguridad logró reducir procesos de auditoría de cuatro días a apenas dos horas mediante análisis documental automatizado”.

Al mismo tiempo que sectores como finanzas, telecomunicaciones, logística y áreas de investigación y desarrollo, lideran la adopción de IA empresarial, otras industrias clave para la región como, agro, energía, manufactura y minería, avanzan primero en procesos de digitalización, destacó.

El talento, un desafío central

GlobalLogic también identifica una fuerte escasez de perfiles especializados en el sector TI en Latinoamérica, en particular roles como científicos e ingenieros de datos, ciberseguridad, así como especialistas de negocio capaces de traducir las necesidades de sectores como banca, seguros o retail en soluciones de IA efectivas.

En el área de desarrollo de software, el principal reto no es la falta de profesionales, afirmó Arango, sino su reentrenamiento para trabajar en un ecosistema donde los agentes de IA actúan como colaboradores que automatizan tareas de pruebas, diseño y experiencia de usuario.

Esta tendencia se refleja también a nivel local. En Colombia, según el estudio de empleabilidad y talento digital realizado por el Ministerio TIC y Fedesoft (diciembre de 2025), el 50% de la demanda de la industria colombiana se orienta a perfiles especializados en Big Data y analítica, seguidas por IA, machine learning (47%), marketing digital, computación en la nube, IoT y ciberseguridad.

“Creo que la IA nos está llevando hacia el aprendizaje continuo y el reentrenamiento, no considero que vaya a eliminar empleos en el largo plazo porque plantea una oportunidad de generar nuevos negocios, nuevas soluciones, de masificación de un montón de productos digitales, entonces a la larga necesitaremos la misma o mayor cantidad profesionales especializados”, enfatizó Arango.

La apuesta por la IA en la región

Actualmente, en Latinoamérica, GlobalLogic desarrolla más de 200 proyectos que incorporan IA, tanto en la experiencia final del usuario como en los propios procesos de desarrollo de soluciones empresariales. En el marco de su estrategia, la compañía trabaja con un ecosistema de partners tecnológicos, entre ellos Google Cloud, AWS, Salesforce y Snowflake, y se enfoca en las capas de datos y aplicaciones que permiten llevar la IA al negocio real.

“La clave para adoptar IA no es hacerlo todo de forma aislada, sino orquestar un ecosistema de socios especializados, con objetivos de negocio claros y una sólida gobernanza de datos”, concluyó Arango.
