  2. They claim 11 gangs were busted and 65 people arrested, but that’s a drop in the bucket for 300+ officers, including MTC. Wonder if it’ll stay or just disappear once the emergency ends.

  6. It’s encouraging to see the MTC joining forces with the Interior Ministry and local authorities in this megaoperativo in Ate, especially with over 300 police, military, and municipal personnel deployed. The involvement of Viceminister Juan Haro and General Sergio Monar shows that this isn’t just a symbolic gesture but a coordinated effort under the state of emergency in Lima and Callao. I’ve lived in a district where similar operations took place, and while the immediate visibility of security forces does reassure residents, the real test is whether these actions translate into lasting safety improvements. The mention of simultaneous interventions across multiple points in Ate is a smart tactic to avoid displacement of criminal activity to neighboring areas, but sustained follow-up will be crucial. I hope the government also pairs these operations with social programs and community policing to address the root causes of insecurity rather than relying solely on territorial control.

  7. The MTC’s involvement makes more sense when you consider their role in regulating transport routes, which are often exploited by criminal groups. Still, dismantling 11 gangs and detaining 65 people in a single operation raises the question of how sustained these coordinated efforts will actually be.
