Minsa promueve la reinserción social de personas con trastornos mentales a través de sus Hogares Protegidos
Acompañamiento progresivo les permite desarrollar confianza, autocuidado y habilidades sociales a pacientes con esquizofrenia, trastorno de bipolaridad, entre otros.
El Ministerio de Salud (Minsa) continúa fortaleciendo la salud mental comunitaria a través de los Hogares Protegidos, un servicio esencial que brinda alojamiento, acompañamiento integral y oportunidades de autonomía a personas con trastornos mentales severos que no cuentan con soporte familiar.
En estos espacios, hombres y mujeres que atravesaron largos períodos de hospitalización psiquiátrica, o situaciones de abandono encuentran un entorno seguro que promueve su dignidad, independencia y proyecto de vida.
Cada hogar puede acoger hasta ocho residentes y está orientado a personas entre 18 y 65 años con diagnóstico de trastorno mental severo o discapacidad psicosocial, derivadas desde los Centros de Salud Mental Comunitaria (CSMC) u hospitales especializados.
Actualmente, la Diris Lima Centro cuenta con dos hogares: uno para mujeres, ubicado en Pueblo Libre y otro para varones, el distrito de San Luis. En ambos, aproximadamente el 70 % de las personas alojadas vive con esquizofrenia, mientras que el 30 % presenta otros diagnósticos como trastorno bipolar, demencia o depresión severa.
Los equipos de los Hogares Protegidos acompañan a las y los residentes en actividades cotidianas, tales como uso de transporte público, preparación de alimentos, organización del hogar, acceso a servicios de salud, así como retornar estudios o actividades laborales. Este acompañamiento progresivo contribuye al desarrollo de confianza, autocuidado y habilidades sociales.
Entre enero y octubre del 2025, los CSMC de Lima Centro atendieron a cerca de 400 personas con esquizofrenia, reforzando el compromiso del Minsa con una atención integral y humanizada.

Nuestro propósito es acompañarlas en la recuperación de habilidades que les permitan desenvolverse con independencia y retomar su proyecto de vida. Invitamos a las instituciones a sumarse a este esfuerzo, que busca asegurar una atención humana, de calidad y basada en el trabajo articulado”, señaló la directora general de la Diris Lima Centro, Karina Colmenares.
